This is interesting. I can’t relate. Giving someone a ride, helping friends paint their house, watching over a pet. I actually like doing those types of favors for my friends. I find it satisfying because I know how helpful those actions can be. But that happened mostly in my 20s when none of us could really afford to pay people for services like that. I remember feeling honored when someone would ask me to watch their pets.

I’m guessing in your case you probably have a large network of friends. So if all of them were constantly asking for favors, that could be pretty annoying and time consuming.

My network has always been pretty small. It takes a long time for someone to reach friend status. I do remember occasions where an acquaintance wanted me to do them favors and I had no trouble saying, No.
