It’s a complicated topic, and my quick off-the-cuff comment doesn’t address every aspect. That’s awesome that Austria has provided peace and prosperity for you. I have an aunt and cousin who live there, and they seem happy, too. Europe is great! I love Denmark, and I’ve enjoyed my time in other countries like Germany, Austria, Hungary, France, etc. Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems like an underlying problem in America is this false promise of individualism (“freedom”) that doesn’t promote unity. Where I live, NYC, it’s culturally diverse, which is amazing and wonderful, but there’s also a fierce competitiveness that keeps people separate. I didn’t mean to imply that being diverse makes unity impossible. I only meant that Americans are not on the same page when it comes to our values and worldview.
