Although it’s never been my goal to be universally loved, I admire people who have this internal conflict. Everything you wrote is true. It’s important to understand that appealing to everyone is impossible.
What I admire about people like you is that you tried to accomplish that impossibility. For someone like me who has spent much of her life hiding and not wanting attention for fear that my “genuine” personality would be scrutinized, I am often drawn to people like you who are not afraid to shape-shift their way into acceptance.
Many of my close female friends have been like you (people-pleasers) which I understand creates a lot of unintentional difficulties, but it also makes you very skilled at understanding other people.
