I think braving boredom goes hand in hand with finding those rare insights.
Boredom is basically your mind doubting whether there will be a payoff, but if you wait long enough, there is always a payoff of some kind.
Last night I watched Wim Wenders' commentary tack of 'Paris, Texas' - two and a half hours of the filmmaker talking about a movie in which not a lot happens.
I imagine most people would suffer, whether watching the film or the commentary. But I've watched enough films and enough commentaries to know that there's a richness in them that you can absorb, if you're patient enough to sit still for a few hours.
